Q: I am getting this message The Document cannot be Saved or Routed because a record with the same primary key already exists when I submit a maintenance document that was saved in my action list. What's up?
A: A document was started to edit the same record and was saved. Then another maintenance document for the same record was started, submitted and possibly final. Once that second maintenance document goes to final the record is updated and the first document is trying to edit a record that is no longer in the previous state. The first document will need to be canceled and a new document to edit the record will need to be created.
Q: How do I find out what documents might be blocking this record?
A: Use Doc Search to search for the document type. Most of the time when you enter a document type, the search criteria expands for you to enter the record you are trying to edit. Don't forget that there might also be global versions of these documents.
Q: Any plans to update the error message to clearly state what's going on?
A: We will eventually be refactoring the maintenance documents and plan to address this situation -either clarify the error message or change the behavior in some way.
